This seaside city is a favourite spot for henplanner fans for either a hen night or weekend of fun. We received lots of recommendations from hen parties who’ve been there, drank the cocktails and worn the bride tribe t-shirt. From the cool and quirky spots to old school seaside fun we’ve been spoiled for choice with Brighton suggestions. And, it’s just 1 hour from London and near Gatwick. Read on for recommended Brighton hen party ideas.
1. Boutique Accommodation
The Ginger Pig is a gastropub that also offers gorgeous boutique accommodation with fancy oversized showers or bathtubs, private dining options for groups, and a delish brunch and cocktail menu – well worth checking out.
2. Speakeasy Vibes
Check out Brighton’s best kept secret! With a Speakeasy style vibe, the gals have suggested The Plotting Parlour off the Old Steine in the centre of Brighton, which has gorgeous décor and drinks – consider booking in advance for a group at weekends as it’s table service only
3. Live Music
If you fancy some live music, our hens recommended a trip to the Jazz club on the pier, where you can enjoy some “saxy” tunes, or some retro favourites as they also promise funk soul and Motown tunes. They also have some acoustic nights on too which is a nice vibe if you want to ease into the night and be able to chat before going to a club!
If you’re organising a hen well in advance, it’s also worth checking out the upcoming events at the city’s biggest nightclub and live music venue, Concorde
4. Cocktails with a Vibe!
No 32 is a highly rated cocktail bar at The Lanes (which is a great place to visit if you want great places to eat, quaint shops and nice cocktail bars!). Number 32, just off Duke Street is a fabulous cocktail bar which has a great vibe. Rated one of the best in Brighton, it's a great place to take the hens when you need a pick me up!
5. Amazing Pub Grub
The Seven Stars Brighton is recommended for a pit stop for some fab pub grub to keep the hen squad fuelled, they also have a great vegan menu (alongside French and Sunday Roast options) and cool surroundings to boot.
6. When in doubt, karaoke!
For the hen parties that prefer the sound of their own voice, a suggestion from one of hens on Instagram was to rent a private room in Brighton’s lucky voice bar to belt out some Karaoke classics with the bride to be. Karaoke is always a great activity for a bit of fun and if you can book a private room it makes a perfect way for all of the hens to mingle!
7. Gin Tasting
The gin tub cocktail bar is a bride squad favourite, with over 100 gins available in their upstairs bar and fun gin themed events like a Mad Hatters Tea Party or a Gin Tasting (with a selection from the 100 strong collection paired with your fever tree tonic of choice.)
8. The Selfie Bar
You had us at Selfie Bar. Downstairs in the Gin Tub is home to the unique “cocktail selfie” bar which features film set-esque interiors inspired by Stranger Things and selfie worthy flower walls. The barman will take a polaroid and attach it to your cocktail as a fun memento of the night, and there are plenty of other opportunities for a Hen Party photoshoot during the night. Plus for those with a sweet tooth, they have quirky cocktail offerings with marshmallows and edible glitter. More details here.
9. Private Dining
Hotel Du Vin was recommended for their number of themed private dining areas for hire. A glam private dining venue is the perfect place to make the bride to be feel like a real VIP, and also play a few hen party games or the Mr and Mrs Quiz for some after dinner entertainment.
10. For the alternative Bride
For the alternative bride Bom Banes was a tip for a quirky late café-bar that also offers live music and private events. For private events they offer a three-course set menu or a mix of dishes, tapas, salads, mezze, breads etc, with custom hen wafflettes for dessert. They also promise their own in house live music later on –with a special live song tailored your party which sounds like a fun surprise for the bride-to-be.
11. Delicious & Authentic Food
Looking for more food options? Check out the Brighton favourite, the Giggling Squid for delish Thai food and tapas, housed in an old-school fisherman’s cottage. For fans of seafood, we’ve heard good things about the Urchin for shellfish, craft beer and wines. And for yummy Indian food accompanied by a delicious cocktail, the centre of Brighton is home to the amazing Chilli Pickle.
12. Seaside Fun
And of course no trip to the seaside is complete without a walk on the pier and a bag of fish and chips and maybe a quick ride on the bumper cars. More info here.
Thanks to all for the great feedback, we really enjoy hearing all the Hen planning tips and now fancy a weekend in Brighton ourselves!
